Privacy Policy

How SkinLit handles face data, account data, and cosmetic analysis results.

SkinLit is a cosmetic skin analysis and progress tracking app. This policy explains what we process, why we process it, who receives it, how long we keep it, and how you can request deletion or stop future collection.

Effective date: April 21, 2026 Support: support@skinlit.lat

1. Overview

SkinLit provides cosmetic wellness insights only. It is not a medical service and does not provide diagnosis or treatment advice.

2. Data we process

  • Local-only profile data: a device-only user identifier used to save onboarding progress, scans, and skin journey history on your device when you use SkinLit without sign-in.
  • Account data: if you activate Cloud Save Beta, sign-in provider, user identifier, and email or name when provided by Apple or Google sign-in.
  • Onboarding data: skin profile preferences and routine goals selected in the app.
  • Face data: the selfie you capture or choose for a scan and the face-focused image variants SkinLit prepares from that selfie.
  • Local scan preview data: the processed selfie preview saved on your device so the in-app calendar and progress history can show past scans.
  • Analysis data: score, criteria, observed conditions, and summary generated from your selected or captured photo.
  • Subscription data: entitlement state provided by Apple StoreKit and used locally to unlock paid features.

3. Face data and selfie processing

In SkinLit, "face data" means the selfie photo you capture or choose for a scan and the face-focused image variants SkinLit prepares from that selfie (`selfie_raw_face` and `selfie_normalized_face`).

SkinLit collects face data only when you start a scan and consent to off-device processing. SkinLit uses face data only to run image-quality checks, generate a cosmetic skin score, produce criterion breakdowns, and return a written cosmetic summary for that scan.

SkinLit does not use face data for identity recognition, biometric authentication, face template creation, or face matching against other people, images, or databases.

4. Third-party processing and security

Your selfie leaves the device and is uploaded to SkinLit's backend for cloud cosmetic analysis. SkinLit uses OpenAI as a third-party AI processor to analyze the uploaded selfie and return the cosmetic result.

Uploaded scan selfies are stored temporarily in SkinLit's backend storage long enough to process the scan. OpenAI receives the uploaded images and returns model output through its API. We do not sell face data or share it with advertisers or data brokers.

We require service providers that process personal data on our behalf to handle it under confidentiality, security, and data-protection obligations that are at least as protective as the standards we apply ourselves.

5. Storage, retention, and deletion

Uploaded scan selfies are stored only temporarily for inference and are deleted after the scan succeeds, is rejected, or fails terminally.

SkinLit may keep a processed scan preview locally on your device so the calendar and history views can show past scans. That local preview remains on your device until you delete local data in the app, delete your signed-in account in the app, or remove the app.

Structured scan results, onboarding profile data, and account records may remain stored while your account is active or while Cloud Save Beta data is needed to provide the service, resolve support issues, prevent abuse, or meet legal obligations. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify associated personal data within a commercially reasonable period unless we are required to retain certain records by law.
